A San Gabriel Mnts Monument Without the Arroyo Seco???

What a shame it would be if many of the most treasured spots in our mountains were left out of the new San Gabriel Mountains National Monument. Yet, when the official map was released after President Obama's proclamation last October, the Arroyo Seco, Big and Little Tujunga Canyons, the front range of the San Gabriel Mountains, and the upper watershed of the Los Angeles River were omitted.

You can do something about that though, if you act promptly. The US Forest Service has released for public comment the scoping document for the National Monument Plan that will be developed over the next three years. We urge you to write and tell the Forest Service to extend the Monument area to include all the heritage areas of the Angeles National Forest that were left out of the Monument at the last minute. We can't let them continue to be neglected.

Water: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Recycled water may soon be coming to Pasadena. The Pasadena Non-Potable Water Project will bring up to 6,000 acre feet of non-potable water annually to Pasadena from the Los Angeles-Glendale Water Reclamation plant. This water is tertiary treated through a three-step process imitating nature’s own cleaning processes. The Los Angeles-Glendale Water Reclamation plant processes 20 million gallons of non-potable water.

A community meeting will be held at 6:30 pm on August 13 in the Arroyo Room of Brookside Golf Club - Arroyo Room 1133 Rosemont Ave. Pasadena, CA 91103 to discuss the recycling program. Your feedback on the project is welcome. Please support the proposed project and provide your comments on the Environmental Impact Report in writing by August 31, 2015.
