Special Thanks Are Due to:

Congressmember Judy Chu

LA2050 Voters

Nursery Volunteers

Arroyo Congressmember Judy Chu has introduced federal legislation to expand the San Gabriel Mountains National Monument to include the Arroyo Seco and the upper LA River Watershed. More

Scores of Arroyo supporters voted in the LA2050 competition to back ASF's "Bring Back the River" and potentially win $100,000. The competition was intense, with 64 contestants in our category alone. While our campaign didn't win the popular vote, we made a big splash for river restoration.

There is still a chance that "Bring Back the River" can win on its merits in the judges' vote.

Thanks so much for your support.

There are now more than 3,500 plants and 82 native species in the Hahamongna Cooperative Nursery thanks to the diligent work of nursery manager Nick Hummingbird and the many volunteers who have pitched in to make the nursery come alive. The plants are being grown for the Arroyo Canyon Project and for other habitat restoration and conservation programs in our region. If you would like to volunteer, just send an email to: nursery@arroyoseco.org

The controversy over how to deal with the accumulated sediment above this flood-control dam in northwest Pasadena is likely to intensify with predictions of heavy El Niño rains this winter. L.A. County Flood Control proposes to remove 2.4 million cubic yards of sediment and debris. Neighbors and the City of Pasadena want a much less aggressive project. Join this 2-mile walk over the dam and around the Hahamongna basin to see and hear what’s involved. Meet at 9 am at the parking lot next to the ball field. Take Oak Grove Drive to the entrance to Hahamongna Watershed Park, turn right into park, take first left and at bottom of hill, bear right to parking lot. Leaders: Don Bremner, Ginny Heringer

Sunday, November 8
