A Special Invitation From Our Friends
At The Angeles Chapter's Forest Committee
WHAT: "Recovering From the Station Fire: Next Steps"
WHEN: 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010
WHERE: Eaton Canyon Nature Center, 1750 N. Altadena Drive, Pasadena.
Jody Noiron, supervisor of Angeles National Forest, will present "Recovering
from the Station Fire: Next Steps" at 7:30 pm Wednesday, January 27 at Eaton
Canyon Nature Center.
The Station Fire that started August 26 north of La Canada burned 160,000
acres and brought a closure order affecting many of the popular trails in
the San Gabriel Mountains. Supervisor Noiron will describe the fire's
effects, what can be done to assist recovery and how volunteers can help.
More than 200 volunteers have signed up for the Angeles Forest Restoration
Project, organized under the auspices of the Forest Committee to help with
trail repairs and other restoration in the forest.
For information and updates on this project, visit the AFRP website at
http://www.angeles.sierraclub.org/AFRP.
There also will be news of upcoming Forest Committee hikes and events as
well as information from Juana Torres and John Monsen on how you can help
expand wilderness designations in the eastern San Gabriel Mountains.
A social reception at 7 p.m. precedes the 7:30 program sponsored by the
Angeles Chapter's Forest Committee. The program is free and the public is
welcome. For information, email
