Description: |
Our friends from the Angeles Chapter's Forest Committee invite you to join them for an engaging program on new efforts to restore the San Gabriels Mountains after the Station Fire. The wildfire burned over 160,000 acres in the Angeles National Forest last fall. Learn how you can help out.
The program begins at 7:30 pm Wednesday, May 26 at Eaton Canyon Nature Center in Pasadena (click here for directions). A free social reception starts at 7 p.m.
Program participants will include all of the major groups doing forest restoration work. Speakers will include representatives from the U.S. Forest Service, San Gabriel Mountains Trailbuilders, the Sierra Club, TreePeople, Student Conservation Association and others. The panelists will tell of their plans and how volunteers can help out. Each group will be working in cooperation with the U.S. Forest Service to help restore the burned areas of the San Gabriel Mountains.
You will also get an update on the San Gabriel Mountains Forever Campaign, which is working with Sierra Club volunteers to expand wilderness designations and create a San Gabriel Mountains National Recreation Area.
