An exploratory experience in our urban backyard - walk or bike through the park and learn about how we can defend this special place. What's the next step to protect Hahamongna?
Spend the morning in nature and learn about innovative ways of managing natural rivers in urban areas. Join either a walking or biking group to visit our education stations in the park, and cheer on our Go With the Flow Brigade at 10:30am as they relay sediment down the Arroyo Seco.
The Walkabout opens at 9:00am with educational stations open until 12 noon. Stations will discuss the Devil's Gate sediment removal project, the Arroyo Seco Canyon Project, native plants and habitat, impacts of the drought and more!
Cyclists will have the added option of a longer leg up the Canyon to visit the Canyon Project Habitat Restoration site and the Brown Mountain Dam.
Our Go With the Flow Brigade will recruit volunteers to demonstrate sediment flow through the watershed. Join in and help the sediment rejoin the flow!
Participants are reminded to bring good walking shoes, a hat, and water. Bring an appropriate bicycle to ride on dirt and pavement and a helmet is required for the bike ride. Under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
