PASADENA -- The Pasadena community is encouraged to attend a kickoff meeting for an Arroyo Seco watershed feasibility study from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at La Casita del Arroyo, 177 S. Arroyo Blvd.

The study is a partnership between the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with assistance from the city of Pasadena, other government agencies and environmental organizations to determine the extent to which the entire Arroyo Seco can be restored to its natural environment.

The Arroyo Seco stretches from the San Gabriel Mountains to downtown Los Angeles. For many years there has been rethinking about flood control policies in the Arroyo Seco watershed and a vision for removing the concrete channel and restoring the streambed to its natural state.

During the community meeting, the feasibility study process will be introduced and information from individuals, agencies and organizations will be collected, such as activities within the watershed, environmental conditions, potential issues and project alternatives that can be addressed in the study.

For more information call the County of Los Angeles at (626) 458-4319 or the Army Corps of Engineers at (213) 452-3795.
