PASADENA - La Loma Road Bridge, 378 feet long, has spanned the lower Arroyo Seco since 1914 and is in need of major rehabilitation or replacement.

The public is invited to attend a workshop at 7 p.m. Nov. 16 to discuss the bridge improvement alternatives and comment on the draft environmental impact report.

The city of Pasadena, in cooperation with California Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration, proposes to rehabilitate or replace the existing bridge to meet current seismic standards.

Three alternatives are being studied, which include retrofit and rehabilitation of existing bridge, replacement of existing bridge with a new box girder bridge and replacement of the existing bridge with a new concrete arc bridge.

The meeting is for the public to review draft documents and provide comments about the proposed project alternatives and environmental effects before the final design is selected.

\"Comments are critical in this initial phase\" said Assistant City Engineer Steve Wright. \"Any decision to retrofit the existing structure or build a new bridge must involve the entire community.\"

The meeting will be held at Westridge School, 324 Madeline Drive.

Copies of the Draft EIR are at Public Works, 117 E. Colorado Blvd., Suite 430, at the Central Library, and at Linda Vista, San Rafael, and Allendale branch libraries, and on the web at www.cityofpasadena.net, click on \"La Loma Bridge.\"
