Content: | I noted with interest the Pasadena Star-News report that the Pasadena Roving Archers\' demand that the city waive fees for rebuilding its clubhouse in the Lower Arroyo Park. Given the general change in attitudes about the appropriate uses of the Lower Arroyo Park since the archers and the Pasadena Casting Club built their respective headquarters there in the first half of the 20th century, I believe neither organization would or should be permitted to erect a structure on public land today, particularly in an area that is intended to be left as natural as possible. Perhaps instead of angling for a new building in the Lower Arroyo Park, they should approach the Casting Club and see whether joint use of their facility is possible. That would generate the least impact on this fragile resource. Diana Britt Pasadena |
