PASADENA - This week\'s torrential rains have saturated Brookside Golf Course in the Arroyo Seco, greatly limiting the number of parking spaces available for Wednesday\'s Rose Bowl Game between USC and Texas, Tournament of Roses officials announced Monday.

Some of the course\'s fairways are so wet that their turf would be severely damaged if driven on, officials said. If it\'s used at all, only extremely limited parking will be allowed at the course.

Stadium operators are instead urging those attending the game to use public shuttles rather than driving to the stadium.

The Rose Bowl traditionally uses Brookside Golf Course as its main public parking lot during games, which means tens of thousands of vehicles during sell-outs. Rose Bowl spokesman Eric Kay said stadium officials will determine how much of the course will be open for parking based on weather conditions today and Wednesday. Kay said portions of the golf course will definitely close and the entire course could be unusable if weather conditions persist.

\"We\'re in a holding pattern,\" Kay said. \"We know that we\'re not going to have the normal parking. That\'s why we\'re encouraging people to use alternate means, to make it easy on themselves coming and going.\"

Two shuttles will transport fans to and from the Rose Bowl beginning at noon Wednesday. The shuttles will depart from the Parsons headquarters at the corner of Walnut Street and Fair Oaks Avenue, and from Pasadena City College at Del Mar Boulevard and Hill Avenue.

The cost to park at either departure site is $15. The shuttles are free.

Parking is limited at Parsons, and the Tournament suggests fans use the Gold Line train service to reach the lot. Fans can park at the Gold Line parking structure located just north of the Foothill (210) Freeway at Madre Avenue, or at Union Station, 800 N. Alameda St. in downtown Los Angeles.

Parsons is a short walk west of the Memorial Park Gold Line station. For more information regarding the Gold Line, call (800) 266-6883.

Kay said pre-paid parking passes will be honored at the Rose Bowl the day of the game.
