Content: | PASADENA - With new maps in hand and new trails to blaze, the public is invited to join the city of Pasadena in a public celebration of the Lower Arroyo Seco on Saturday. Trails of the Lower Arroyo Seco Day, sponsored by Councilman Steve Madison, 6th District, and the Department of Public Works, begins at the casting pond with ceremonies at 10 a.m. Mayor Bill Bogaard, Vice Mayor Steve Madison and City Manager Cynthia Kurtz will speak. At 10:15 a.m. a range of activities will begin, including lessons in archery and casting fly fishing lines; art activities with Armory Center for the Arts\' teachers; scenic painting demonstrated by members of the California Art Club and trail tours led by the Pasadena Chapter of the Sierra Cub. At 11:30 a.m. the Pasadena Fire Fighters Association will grill hot dogs for the crowd. On display in La Casita del Arroyo will be historic Arroyo photographs loaned by the Pasadena Museum of History. Information will also be given on the Pasadena Police\'s Mounted Patrol Unit, Arroyo Seco Foundation, Rose Bowl Riders, Pasadena Water & Power, and Pasadena Parks and Natural Resources Division. Entrance is at the intersection of Arroyo Boulevard and Norwood Street. Parking is available in Lower Arroyo Seco and at La Casita, 177 S. Arroyo Blvd. Information: (626) 744-4739. |
