Arroyo Seco Foundation

March 2023

Nature is coming back in a big way in the Arroyo Seco. Habitat is healing in the basin, and there's water and fish down by the dam.

ASF is working together with the renown California Art Club and the City of Pasadena to present The Great Hahamongna Paint Out and Walkabout on Saturday, March 18 in Hahamongna Watershed Park. It is going to be a fun and educational event!

Exhibitors will include: California Art Club, Arroyo Seco Foundation, Pasadena Public Works, Pasadena Water & Power, Pasadena Audubon Society, Outward Bound Adventures, Arlington Gardens, Stillwater Sciences, Arroyos and Foothills Conservancy, Friends of the Los Angeles River, and others. Soul Force, Carvel's friends, and others will provide musical entertainment.

The hub will be on the eastside of the park on the old JPL parking lot. Enter HWP from the Arroyo/Windsor intersection and proceed into the basin to the old JPL parking lot.

There will be lots of music, environmental learning stations, and three major walkabouts to key sites in Hahamongna Watershed Park:

  1. Up stream to Pasadena's water diversion facilities in the Arroyo Canyon;

  2. Down to Devil's Gate Dam to explore the water situation their, the County's sediment management program and the habitat restoration program;

  3. To the west, to Hahamongna Native Plant Nursery and the proposed site of the Climate Resilience Environmental Education Center.
