The Los Angeles County Flood Control District will go the the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 to request another approval of their Big Dig program for Hahamongna Watershed Park. The Supervisors must also certify that the environment impact report for the project is fully compliant with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
In March Superior Court Judge James Chalfant ruled that County Flood's EIR was seriously flawed in three areas: air quality (diesel trucks), enviromental mitigation, and cumulative impacts with other projects. In late July the Flood Control District posted revisions to key parts of the EIR and submitted the revised report to the public for a review period that ended on September 18, 2017. The Flood Control District has now responded to the comments that were made by inviduals and agencies during the review period.
The Supervisors will hold a public hearing at their meeting of Tuesday, November 7, at 9:30 am to consider the Flood Control District revised plan and public concerns about it. If they approve the plan, that action will then be reviewed again by Judge Chalfant.
