Objectives:

A. Reduce further degradation of the ecosystem by improving general ecosystem health.

B. Develop opportunities for ecosystem restoration by providing high-value habitat and connectivity.

C. Prevent further degradation and improve water quality (both surface and groundwater).

D. Improve riparian habitats by restoring sustainable vegetation within the study area.

E. Maintain reduction of flood damage and life and property loss.

F. Increase opportunities for water conservation by improving recharge potential and addressing groundwater contamination issues.

G. Improve recreation opportunities by identifying a balance of open space, recreational trails, and habitat areas.

H. Improve the riverfront aesthetic quality of the Arroyo Seco.

I. Restore wildlife corridor between the lower and upper Arroyo Seco.

US Army Corps Arroyo Seco Ecosystem Study

The Arroyo Seco Watershed Ecosystem Restoration Study is a partnership between the County of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers with the assistance of governmental agencies and environmental organizations within the watershed.

This study is investigating long-term solutions for water resources and environmental restoration issues within the Arroyo Seco Watershed.
