Thanks, Andy Byrne

Dear Arroyo Seco Foundation,
My name is Katie Poole and I am a Girl Scout Leader for Troop 101 at Polytechnic School. I'm writing to thank you for letting us take Andy Byrne's time this spring on our project in the Arroyo. Andy is resourceful and responsible. Andy was a thoughtful and appropriate mentor for the girls and he enthusiastically adjusted our project as it evolved so that the girls stuck with it, and learned a lot. We spent about 8 hours with the 9 girls (ages 10 to 11) actually working directly on the plantings in the Arroyo. However, before the project, he visited with us at least twice in the lower Arroyo, testing water and identifying invasives and helping us design the project. In the end I think we met at least 5 different times with Andy and he taught, by example, what it means to care about our surroundings.
The girls will be able to visit the trees they planted in the Arroyo and remember their project.
All of our girls will earn the Bronze Award for Junior Scouting because of this project. And more importantly, most will continue in Scouting because the experience they had wet their appetite for further community service....the ultimate reward. Thanks again to you and thanks to Andy Byrne!
Katie Poole
